Getting Ahead classes help provide incarcerated individuals with a unique opportunity to increase their knowledge of community resources while helping them to conduct self-assessments, increases their awareness of the cycle of poverty, and helps the individual to establish goals in moving forward.

I started volunteering because I was close to this situation many years ago before agencies like Hope House were around. I want to help others, now that I am able.

I am pleased to be just a tiny part of this place and continue to be impressed with the staff and volunteers I have met and the work done here! Women really do get a chance to get the support and skills needed to get their lives back!  I enjoy talking with the residents and their kids…and am touched by the community support, from individuals and groups that donate time, supplies and dollars to this unique place. The professional staff really do care about the residents and provide excellent support, coaching and guidance resulting in many success stories for the residents.
