THE HOUSING OFFICE

Helps individuals and families who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, locate and secure housing.

  • Access to a current list of area property managers, landlords, senior housing & subsidized housing.
  • Information on Fair Housing services.
  • Support finding and using other community resources.
TRANSITIONAL SHELTER PROGRAM

Communal housing for women and women with children facing homelessness who need a transitional place to live.

  • Residents can stay up to 9 months.
  • Private rooms for each household.’
  • Shared living spaces including kitchen, dining room, laundry room and recreational areas inside and outside.
  • Basic household necessities are provided.
  • Income must be below 35% of Hancock County Area Median Income (AMI) to qualify.
  • Priority is given to Hancock County residents facing homelessness.
HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM

Priority assistance for individuals and households who are at imminent risk of losing their nighttime residence, are regularly moving from place to place or are doubled up with another family, putting their household in jeopardy.

  • Provides 3 months of rental assistance if verified income is at or below 30% of Hancock County Area Median Income (AMI).
RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM

Short-term rental assistance for individuals & families facing homelessness.

  • Currently living outdoors.
  • Staying in an emergency shelter or hotel/motel paid for by someone else.
  • Staying in a place not meant for human habitation such as a vacant house, vehicle, garage or storage shed.
  • 90 days of rental assistance with the potential for extension depending on circumstances.
ABLE HOUSING PROGRAM
  • Provides permanent supportive housing for individuals who are disabled and chronically homeless or those with a dependent, disabled person in the household.
  • Rental payments up to the full lease amount for the duration of the program.
  • Utility assistance available.
  • Income must be at or below 30% of Hancock County Area Median Income (AMI).
CASE MANAGEMENT

All Hope House clients receive case management services to support the transition from homelessness to permanent housing.
